DotComs, Developers & Dead Seas
Big week for Trust Fun. HISTORIC some might say. Gonna need re-use the meme I made from back when I was able to convince my wonderfully kind, yet elderly neighbor to stop blasting her radio 24/7.
After MONTHS of searching, the domain has been secured. I am the proud owner of TrustFun.com.
Special shout out to Rob & Snagged Domains. Wouldn’t have been possible without him. I looked for months to try & get it with no luck. Then, Rob stepped in & secured a deal for it in like 3 days. He’s a wizard.
This is the 2nd most expensive thing I’ve EVER bought behind my car (a 2007 Volkswagen EOS convertible). Isn’t she a beaut?
Why did I do this? Well, first of all, I’m man enough to admit that yes, it was a vanity purchase. I know that. I didn’t need it, per say.
But second, and more importantly, it’s because I truly believe in the brand we are building with Trust Fun. I love what it stands for. I adore how people resonate with it. Though we are small, we are mighty.
Trust Fun hat sighted at the NYC Newsletter Conference this week. Still bitter that no one invited me, but at least Trust Fun snuck in.
I love this newsletter so much. It has changed my life. I want to continue to invest in Trust Fun. I want to keep building. I have endless ideas that I can’t wait to share with you all.
Welcome to week 29 of Trust Fun. Feel free to visit us at TrustFun DOT com. Let’s fucking go. I’m fired up.
More SAAS ? :/
I’ve been conflicted lately on slinging too much SAAS in Trust Fun. I try to be as genuine & thoughtful as possible before I find a partner to work with. I prioritize 1) partners that I currently work with @ Mugsy, 2) partners I’ve worked with in the past at either birddogs or Barstool, & 3) friends (aka, people I believe in) who have launched their own SAAS that I’ve vetted & find cool.
However, no matter what, when something is “sponsored,” it’s difficult to take whatever the person is saying seriously because 9 times out of 10, they’re getting paid to say it. Trust me, I call bullshit all the time on the ecomm gurus slinging me something they’re clearly getting a bag to say.
But I can assure you 2 things:
1) I am a doofus.
2) I am not getting paid ‘bags.’
But listen, I get it. If you’re so graciously spending your time (your most valuable asset) reading what I have to say, my words better be goddamn funny/witty/insightful/interesting. That will forever & always be my #1 priority. Trust Fun will never be full of ads & I will never lose sight of it’s original thesis…
Have some trust that it’s going to be a lot of fun.
I will continue to walk this fine line & always promise to be genuine & thoughtful. Also seriously, I do appreciate any + all feedback too. Honestly I prefer it. As I’ve always said, even after 29 weeks, I have no idea what I’m doing & feel bamboozled that people actually read what I have to say.
With all that being said, I now must present you with some SAAS (lol), but don’t worry, it’s a really, really good one.
Employees are expensive. E-commerce is confusing. If you’re a “figure it out-er” like me, you’ve most certainly spent days, if not weeks, trying to jerry-rig something on your Shopify store… Gift with purchases, landing pages, post-purchase upsells, A/B testing, etc etc. These all require an experienced Shopify developer, otherwise you’re gonna be watching Youtube how-to videos & asking Chat-GPT until your eyes bleed (& still probably never figure it out). Some of us, especially those who are bootstrapped, don’t have a budget for a developer. $200-300k per year? HELL NAH. That’s why brands like us work with Rebuy.
Rebuy is a 360 degree tech partner who will accelerate most things a dev can do, for 1/10th the cost. Their team is incredible & quick to respond. Their tools & capabilities are like Mary Poppins’ bag… Endless.
Every week I feel like they add something new & they’ve been just a treat to work with. Whether it’s leveraging their Smart Cart or coming up with a unique post purchase upsell, they’ve helped us add a ton of $$ to our business. Always a nice feeling when your tech has a positive ROI.
Check ‘em out here & tell them Trust Fun sent you. Would mean a lot.
Also new hats are en route so if you take a Rebuy demo, lmk & I’ll ship out a trust fun baby hat for free.
Remember, Relax
Last order of business for today is to quickly brag in your face. I went to Aire Ancient Baths in Tribeca yesterday with my girlfriend & holy shit. What an experience. I got a very painful (hurt so good) massage & spent hours soaking in different temperature tubs. Not a bad way to recuperate on a Sunday afternoon.
I may need to ask next weeks sponsor for an advance payment cuz it was not cheap, but well worth it. 10/10 would recommend. They had a dense, salt tub that was as if you were in the Dead Sea & you just floated at the top. It was sick.
Thanks for reading this week. Love you. Mean it. Have an incredible day, friends (& foes.)
